Bertolf maakt droomreis naar Nashville om muziek op te nemen met zijn helden

Deze week zat Bertolf in Nashville, USA. Hij maakte een lang gekoesterde droom waar door af te reizen naar de geboortegrond van “the Nashville sound”, dé plek waar country midden jaren ’50 een muzikale revolutie ontketende.

Bertolf was daar om in de iconische Sound Emporium Studios op te nemen met enkele van zijn muzikale helden en geestverwanten: met een band bestaande uit Jerry Douglas op dobro, Stuart Duncan op viool, Mark Schatz op contrabas, Wes Corbett op banjo en David Benedict op mandoline, en met David Sinko achter de knoppen, hebben ze 15 songs opgenomen.

“Wat een droom, de afgelopen week. Alles waar ik op gehoopt had en meer.” schreef Bertolf op social media. Niet alleen Bertolf zelf vond het een week om nooit te vergeten, ook Jerry Douglas heeft het naar zijn zin gehad. Hij schreef op Facebook:

(…) Artist: Bertolf Lentink (look him up too), an amazingly talented star in Holland brought his already Hit songs to Nashville to record with some of the folks that inspired him to play early on in his life to record new versions with us. Complete with film crew. Over the week we tried our best to complete a journey years in the making. I wasn’t alone by any stretch. Stuart Duncan, Mark Schatz, Wes Corbett, and mandolinist formerly with Mile Twelve David Benedict all came prepared and together we played so many songs that have already become earworms to me. I can’t get enough. Thank you Ilse DeLange for, in a way, sending him to us. Beautiful stuff with such good friends and new friends. I had decided I didn’t want to meet any new people, but I was definitely wrong in my thinking. I love my job!
